Canam Manac says trailers are its only division showing weakness
MONTREAL (Aug. 14, 2000) — Canam Manac Group Inc., a leading North American producer of structural steel products, aims at doubling its steel business to more than $2 billion by 2005, mostly by acquisition.
The only division showing weakness is truck semi-trailers, said Canam Manac CEO Marcel Dutil. Industry volume is down about 35% year to year, he said.
The company is Canada’s largest independent producer of semi-trailers. It built nearly 8000 trailers last year at two plants.
