Cancom to market Vantage satellite-based trailer tracking technology
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (Oct. 27, 1999) — Vantage Tracking Solutions, a business unit of satellite network operator ORBCOMM Global, announced an agreement to market its Vantage satellite-based trailer tracking system through Cancom Tracking Solutions.
The agreement gives Cancom exclusive rights to offer the Vantage trailer tracking system, introduced earlier this year, to trucking companies in Canada. Cancom, based in Mississauga, Ont., also distributes Qualcomm Inc.Õs OmniTRACS satellite-based vehicle tracking products.
The Vantage trailer tracking product captures trailer data, communicates the data via ORBCOMM’s low-earth orbit satellite network, and integrates the information into the customer’s fleet management systems.
The companies estimate that Canadian fleets are responsible for almost 400,000 trailers.
