Cancom to sponsor Hall of Fame for truck drivers

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (Feb. 11, 2003) — The Private Motor Truck Council said yesterday that Cancom Tracking will sponsor the association’s Hall of Fame for Professional Drivers.

The Hall of Fame — a “virtual” location residing at the PMTC’s web site — recognizes exemplary drivers for companies that are members of the association, which represents private truck fleets in Canada. Initial design work on the virtual Hall has been completed and can be seen at the PMTC web site.

As part of PMTC’s 25th anniversary celebrations, all 11 drivers who had previously been named driver of the year by the association were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“We see opportunities like this as ways in which we can support the PMTC and its members,” said Mike Ham, vice-president of Cancom Tracking. “Cancom understands the importance of drivers within the industry. They are the ambassadors of the company, the information gatherers, and the ones who can make or break a delivery. Taking this opportunity to show recognition and respect is what commitment, and supporting the industry is all about.”

To be inducted into the PMTC Hall of Fame, drivers must be nominated by their company and meet criteria established by the association’s safety committee. A selection committee will review nominations and induction will take place during the PMTC’s annual conference.
