Cars, trucks can go same speed in Texas
AUSTIN, Tex. — The Lone Star State is moving to a single, uniform speed limit for cars and trucks regardless of the time of day.
Starting today, Sept. 1, there will no longer be a distinction between daytime and nighttime speeds, as well as slower speeds for commercial trucks.
Previously, passenger car drivers could go 70 mph during the day along rural highways and 65 mph at night, while truckers were limited to 65 mph 24-7.
On several interstates car drivers were allowed 80 mph during the day while trucks were capped at 70 mph. Al vehicles were limited to 65 mph at night on certain stretches.
