Cat Idle-Control Systemn

Caterpillar now offers an electronic idle-control system made by Temp-A-Start that automatically maintains a pre-set in-cab temperature by starting and stopping the engine during rest stops.

Called the Driver Comfort Control System, it monitors both engine temperature and battery charge, and will automatically start the engine to recharge the batteries. Other automatic features include engine starts and stops based on oil temperature to ensure quick starts and quick lubrication. The system will also stop the engine if the river forgets to turn off the ignition switch and will maintain engine idle rpm at a specified level. Three models are available: one with a programmable thermostat/microprocessor and diagnostics/data output, one with a non-programmable thermostat, and a third offering engine idle control only.
