CAW workers, truckers accept CN deal
MONTREAL — The Canadian National Railway Company yesterday welcomes the ratification of new collective labour deals by the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union.
The four-year agreements include wage and benefit improvements for CN’s shopcraft and clerical, intermodal functions, as well as for owner-operator truckers working for CN’s intermodal trucking subsidiary, CN said.
The truckers will see an increase in mileage rates, among other improvements.
For other workers, the annual wage increases are reportedly three per cent during the first three years of the deals and four percent in the final year of the contracts. CN said employees will also benefit from a post-retirement health care plan, and shopcraft employees will gain individual employment guarantees during the life of the contract.
