CCRA releases Access version of 2002 Customs Tariff
OTTAWA (Sept. 5, 2001) — The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) has released a WinZipped MS Access version of the 2002 Customs Tariff, which contains changes to the Harmonized System Nomenclature.
The most extensive changes have been made to chapters covering chemicals, pharmaceutical products, rubber, leather, and wood and paper products. The amendments affect 57 chapters in total.
In March, the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Brussels recommended certain amendments to the structure and nomenclature of the Harmonized System (HS). These amendments will take effect on Jan. 1, 2002.
The Harmonized System is the basis for the Canadian Customs Tariff and the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule. As a signatory to the HS, Canada is required to make the necessary changes to its tariffs.
