CF signs continental trucking partnership with US carriers

CALGARY — Six regional carriers, including Canadian Freightways of Calgary, have partnered to create an exclusive North American transportation network, offering continent-wide LTL and truckload services.

The network will be made up of Canadian Freightways/Epic Express (Canada); Pitt Ohio Express (Mid-Atlantic); Lakeville Motor Express (Midwest), Averitt Express (South and Southeastern), Land Air Express of New England (New England); and DATS Trucking (West).

According to a press release, CF and its Epic Express division will work closest with Pitt Ohio Express of Pittsburgh and Land Air Express of New England.

“The addition of Pitt Ohio Express and Land Air Express as exclusive partners in our North American Network, which already includes Averitt Express and DATS Trucking, will allow us to provide customers with a fully integrated LTL transportation solution across the continent,” says CF.

“As part of the exclusive relationships we have implemented dedicated, direct linehaul into partner regions, providing for more control and reduced handling of our customers’ shipments. We are starting to implement EDI communication with our new partners, taking advantage of the real-time tracking already implemented within their regions.”

Says Pete Martin, president of Roseville, Minn.-based Lakeville Motor Express:

“This new alliance will leverage the superior synergies of six financially strong regional transportation companies into a seamless network serving the entire North American shipping community.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for customers throughout the network to use companies they already know and trust to expand their transportation reach.”
