Challenger offers behind the wheel view of new digs
CAMBRIDGE, Ont. — Challenger Motor Freight will officially cut the ribbon of its new state-of-the-art headquarters in Cambridge, Ont. next week.
The southern Ontario-based truckload giant will also be offering tours of the 126,000 sq. ft. facility as well as behind-the-wheel demonstrations of its brand new driver training truck simulator on June 13, 2006.
The facility became operational last year.
“Challenger is a recognized leader in the North American transportation industry,” Dan Einwechter, Challenger’s Chairman and CEO. “Our new headquarters is a world-class facility that reflects our growth as an organization and our commitment to our people, the industry and to road safety.”
The fleet got started in 1975, when Einwechter established D.S. Leasing with a single rented truck. By 1985, the company — renamed Challenger Motor Freight — was transporting freight throughout Ontario. Four years later, it became the first carrier in Canada to utilize two-way satellite communications and tracking.
Today, with more than 1,500 trucks, 3,500 trailers, 2,000 employees and several terminals across the country. Challenger is one of Canada’s 10 largest for-hire carriers.
