Cobra previews handheld GPS
Cobra Electronics
The GPS 1000, a new handheld GPS unit from Cobra Electronics, incorporates mapping software from Rand McNally-including a U.S. highway map featuring all interstate highways (you can download street-level maps from your PC using optional Rand McNally software). The unit has a compass, altimeter, clock, and a Track Log that automatically tracks travel. It can store up to 500 waypoints with names and symbols and create as many as 50 routes with up to 50 waypoints. Cobra says the GPS 1000 will be sold at major retail outlets starting this fall at a suggested price of $249.95 US. www.cobra.com
