Collenette remains as Transport Minister following cabinet shuffle
OTTAWA (Jan. 15, 2002) — David Collenette retained his post as federal Transport Minister following a major cabinet shakeup this morning.
Prime Minister Jean Chretien named 10 new cabinet ministers and dropped seven. There were 13 changes of portfolio among the ministers who stayed on.
“The new team I am presenting today is a mix of new faces and seasoned veterans,” Chretien said.
Collenette was appointed minister of transport on June 11, 1997, and is the Minister Responsible for the Greater Toronto Area.
