Companies form logistics group for Arctic operations
INUVIK, NT (June 25, 2001) — Five transportation companies operated by the Inuvialuit Development Corp. have formed the Arctic Transportation Group, an alliance that will offer integrated passenger, freight, and logistics services in Canada’s far north.
The group, comprised of Aklak Air, Canadian Helicopters, Canadian North, Northern Transportation Co. Ltd., and Inuvialuit Northern Logistics, will target petroleum companies operating in the region.
“The petroleum industry has returned to the north. The increased level of exploration and production has put new demands on northern transportation and logistics,” said Dennis Lennie, chairman of the Inuvialuit Development Corp. “The ATG will provide its preferred resource-based customers with the advantages of stabilized pricing, guaranteed services and proven Arctic transportation expertise, all delivered through a single point of contact.”
IDC is a diversified management company wholly owned by the Inuvialuit Regional Corp.
