Con-way going global; expands international offerings
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — North American LTL giant Con-way is going global. Has launched Global LTL — a comprehensive portfolio expansion of the company’s worldwide LTL services.
"The need for shippers to connect LTL service to a worldwide customer and supplier base has increased significantly over the past few years, and Con-way Freight has expanded its suite of services accordingly," said John G. Labrie, president, Con-way Freight.
"Global LTL brings all of our worldwide solutions under one umbrella, making it more convenient than ever for shippers to quickly and intuitively locate the LTL service that best meets their needs. We are always looking for new ways to improve the customer experience, and Global LTL represents just one more step in that direction."
Con-way Freight’s, Global LTL services include:
Service from Europe with Con-way Freight and TNT — Con-way Freight’s alliance with TNT, offers day-definite service from Europe to the continental United States; competitive transit time of three to six days; door-to-door service; simplified pricing with inclusive customs services; and full visibility with online tracking and tracing.
Asia to the United States, Canada and Mexico with OceanGuaranteed — This provides more than 60 percent savings over airfreight for shipments from Asia using the industry-leading expertise of APL Logistics and Con-way Freight. The service also includes unlimited capacity, including peak season and convenient departures from 11 key Asian ports.
United States to the Caribbean with TropicalDirect — Unites the LTL reliability of Con-way Freight with the LCL (less than container load) reliability of Tropical Shipping to offer fast, direct service to more than 30 Bahamian and Caribbean ports.
Domestic Offshore service — Key benefits include multiple sailings to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico; streamlined pre-booking procedures; and online tools for easy tracking.
Con-way, which also operates a Canadian division in Ontario, is seen as trying to make a big international move with the recent struggles of major compeitor YRC Worldwide.
