Court upholds ruling in Detroit Diesel patent case
DETROIT (May 27) — A U.S. appeals court yesterday upheld an earlier ruling regarding a patent infringement lawsuit brought against Detroit Diesel Corp. by rival Caterpillar Inc.
The lawsuit, filed in 1995, claimed that Detroit Diesel¹s “Cruise Power” feature, an electronic control option available on its Series 60 engine, infringed a patent held by Caterpillar.
Detroit Diesel denied the allegations.
Caterpillar¹s original suit was filed in an Indiana district court.
