CP mechanics’ union agrees to labor pact

CALGARY — CP Rail and the union representing mechanical services employees have reached a tentative three year contract settlement.

The Canadian Auto Workers will now send the Memorandum of Settlement to the union membership for ratification. Details of the deal will be made public after workers vote on it.

“This agreement comes after months of work between the parties,” said Rick Wilson, CP assistant VP of Labour Relations. “It effectively addresses the company’s productivity and fluidity goals.”

In December, the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), representing 4,500 CP Rail locomotive engineers and conductors, also reached a revised tentative five-year agreement with the railway.
