CTA produces cargo securement handbook for truckers
OTTAWA — The Canadian Trucking Alliance is offering truckers a handy handbook detailing the new cargo securement rules in place in Canada and the U.S.
The book is now available through the provincial trucking associations and is written in “an easy-to-understand format” for drivers, shippers and carriers. Copies are $15 each when purchased by the box of 20. Single copies are $20 (plus applicable taxes).
The handbook covers general cargo requirements and the 11 specific commodities addressed in the regulations. One chapter is entirely devoted to securing cargo inside vans and other closed vehicles. This publication establishes the guidelines adopted by industry for arranging and securing all types of cargo inside vans. Navigation panes on each page make it easy to find the information you want. Complete up-to-date regulations for the US and Canada are included in the appendix.
The new cargo securement regulations have been a compliance challenge for industry and for enforcement, says CTA. The full color guide features over 600 illustrations “and will assist anyone who transports cargo. Transport drivers, trucking fleets and shippers — anyone responsible for ensuring compliance with the tough new regulations.”
