Cummins adds ISX rating
Cummins bolstered its ISX diesel engine by unveiling a 385-horsepower rating with SmartTorque, an electronic torque-management feature. Designed for fleets that don’t need an engine brake and want a higher displacement engine, the ISX 385 ST provides 1,450 pounds-feet of torque and an extra 100 pounds-feet in the top two gears. The feature helps keep downshifts to a minimum on the open road, the company says.
The Cummins ISX was the first engine certified to the October 2002 EPA emissions regulations. Every ISX and ISM engine purchased before Dec. 31, 2003, comes with the Cummins Uptime Guarantee. Under the guarantee, if any part on a your ISX or ISM engine fails and can’t be repaired within a 24-hour period, Cummins will pay for the repairs and provide a rental vehicle up to three days at no cost.
