Cummins and Scania launch joint venture

COLUMBUS, Ind. (Jan. 7) — Cummins Engine Co. and Scania CV AB of Sweden have formed a joint venture to develop new fuel systems for diesel engines made by the two companies.

Named Cummins-Scania High Pressure Injection L.L.C., the new company will produce a high-pressure electronically controlled fuel system designed to meet future emissions standards worldwide.

Following a period of cooperation on research and development between Cummins and Scania, the new fuel system is already available as part of Cummins’ new Signature 600 engine.

The joint venture is owned 70% by Cummins and 30% by Scania. It is located in Columbus, Ind.
