Cummins Engine chairman Henderson to retire
COLUMBUS, Ind. (Sept. 29, 1999) — The 35-year career of James A. Henderson at Cummins Engine Co. will wrap-up at the end of 1999 when the chairman and chief executive officer of the enginemaker retires.
Henderson, who has been chairman since 1995 and CEO since 1994, will be succeeded in these positions by Tim Solso, a 28-year Cummins veteran who currently serves as president and chief operating officer for the firm.
Henderson’s departure is the second significant personnel move at Cummins in recent weeks, following the resignation of Roberto Cordaro, who leaves his position as president of the Cummins automotive and heavy-duty engine division effective Oct. 1.
