Cummins Updates QuickCheck Diagnostics
Cummins has updated its QuickCheck diagnostic system for handheld devices. QuickCheck II is the second generation of the company’s read-only tool, designed to capture engine, transmission, and brake system data from any electronic diesel engine. The system uses a Palm or HandEra handheld computer to capture engine data over diesel engine broadcast protocols including SAE J1939 and J1587.
QuickCheck II can read a wide range of output parameters from electronic engines, such as engine speed, coolant temperature, percent engine load, and oil pressure. It cannot reset Fault or Trip information or adjust engine settings, however. Engine data can also be downloaded for later use on a PC.
The QuickCheck kit includes a datalink adapter, interface cables and connectors and diagnostic software. A separate software and cable package is available to diagnose the Cummins 24-valve turbo engine in Dodge Ram light trucks.
