Cummins Westport names Muench vice chairman
VANCOUVER (May 27, 2002) — Cummins Westport has appointed Guff Muench as vice chairman of its board of directors and Hugh Foden as president. The changes are designed to allow Cummins Westport to better respond to the global opportunity for its natural gas and propane engines, which it says has expanded more rapidly than originally anticipated.
Foden has been the Cummins area business director for Southeast Asia since 1999. Based in Singapore, he had been responsible for sales of Cummins products in 13 countries. Prior to that, Foden held a number of Cummins management roles within the European marketplace.
Muench was named president and chief executive of Cummins Westport last year. Prior to his appointment, Muench spent 20 years with Cummins, including 12 years running Cummins British Columbia, a distributor based in Surrey, B.C.
Cummins Westport, formed in 2001, is a developer of alternate fuel technology for Cummins bus and truck engines up to 8.3 liters, and for Westport’s natural gas fuel system for larger Cummins engines, including the 15-litre ISX heavy-duty truck engine and the QSK family of stationary power generation engines.
