DaimlerChrysler changes management team
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — DaimlerChrysler AG shifted its management structure in sales, marketing, and manufacturing as it tries to integrate the Chrysler and Daimler-Benz operations.
In November, Daimler-Benz AG acquired Chrysler Corp. for $35 billion US, creating the world’s fifth-largest automaker.
Among the appointments, Dr. Kurt Lauk will be responsible for the Stuttgart-based company’s brand management strategies for its Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, and Sterling truck product lines as well as Setra buses and sales for Freightliner and Sterling.
Gary Henson was named senior vice president of manufacturing, replacing Dennis Pawley, who resigned 10 days ago to join a consulting firm.
Also, James Holden, chairman of Chrysler Canada Ltd. and DaimlerChrysler’s management board member responsible for Chrysler sales, will oversee marketing for DaimlerChrysler in North America as well as for the Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, and Jeep brands.
“With this new organization, we will be able to identify both synergies and growth opportunities quickly and at the same time protect the integrity of the brands,’ DaimlerChrysler co-chairman Juergen Schrempp said in a statement.
