Day & Ross given coveted 50 Best Managed award
HARTLAND, N.B. — Atlantic for-hire carrier Day & Ross Transportation Group has been named to the prestigious list of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for 2008.
The award — sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, the National Post and Queen’s School of Business — is coveted by hundreds of entrepreneurial companies that have competed for the "designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices."
Day & Ross is one of Canada’s largest trucking fleets, routinely ranking in the front 15 on Today’s Trucking’s annual Top 100 For-Hire carrier list.
Many of the companies chosen this year showed the ability to maintain sustainable growth amid volatile economic conditions, noted John Hughes, Deloitte partner, private company services, and national leader of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies Program.
“These companies are successful today because of their commitment to strong planning, understanding the market and adapting to their customers’ needs,” he says. “Even two years ago, these companies were building contingency plans in the event of economic softness.”
