DCT Chambers finalizes deal to buy Glen Transport
SKOOKUMCHUCK, B.C. — Months after the death of its owner Don Glen, family fleet Glen Transport of Skookumchuck, B.C. is officially part of DCT Chambers Trucking.
Vernon B.C.-based DCT Chambers Trucking recently finalized the deal to acquire all the assets of Glen Transport, a wood-based residuals hauler serving B.C., Alberta, Washington, Idaho, and Montana.
DCT plans to continue to operate Glen as a separate division.
company and new acquisition Glen Transport
Glen Transport was founded and operated by the late Don Glen. The company was incorporated in 1986 when its wood chip transportation business took off. Since then, it has experienced a steady and solid 20 percent compounded growth rate.
Today, Glen Transport has about 70 trucks, with a 50-50 owner-op, company driver mix.
“DCT is very excited to announce the Glen Transport acquisition. For a number of years we have watched the Glen organization grow and have marveled at the similarities to DCT’s history,” said David Chambers, vice-president and co-owner of DCT. “The entire DCT-Glen organization is saddened by the loss of Don Glen. Don will never be forgotten and his legacy lives on in all of us.”
Last fall, with the support of his family and key staff, Don Glen approached DCT about buying the company, says Chambers.
“He chose DCT knowing that we shared similar values and that DCT was one of the strongest companies in our industry, which would allow for a secure future for his people and customers,” Chambers recalls. “I believe this acquisition will only further strengthen our position in this industry and ensure that we remain the number one wood residual hauler in the Pacific Northwest.”
DCT Chambers, one of Canada’s 100 largest trucking firms, is a family owned and operated company held by Arthur, Mona, and David Chambers.
The company’s core of operations are also based in the wood residual transportation sector. It also holds a whole log chipping division on Vancouver Island, a trucking division in Oregon, and a subsidiary deck transportation company, LFL Chambers Ltd, also based in Vernon.
With the acquisition of Glen Transport, DCT now operates 300 trucks and employs over 550 people.
