Delphi, AlliedSignal team up to develop new Bendix ABS technology
TROY, Mich. (March 29) — Delphi Automotive Systems will supply electronics technology for AlliedSignal Truck Brake Systems’s next-generation Bendix anti-lock braking systems for heavy trucks.
The first systems developed by the alliance are expected in early 2000, the companies said. A dollar value of the agreement was not released.
The ABS system will use Power Line Carrier (PLC-4 Trucks) multiplexing technology, which sends spread-spectrum chirps between the tractor and trailer ABS controllers over the standard tractor to trailer (J560) connector harness. The system provides advanced diagnostic communication, trailer ABS status information, and advanced control functions.
“This alliance is a natural fit that will help us speed the development of future braking systems,” said Jeff Sinclair, president of AlliedSignal Truck Brake Systems. “The synergy of the alliance will assist us in our goal of providing a next-generation ABS product that provides our customers with the best technology and the greatest value.”
