Diesel-like Twist to Alternative Fuels

Thermo King’s new SB-200 and SB-300 trailer units, with optional in-cab temperature monitor and control, promise faster pull-down, easier use, better fuel efficiency, and greater capacity. Both can handle deep-frozen hauls, but the SB-200 is specifically for truckload operations that only occasionally pull such freight, while the SB-300 is for regular deep-frozen truckload use. The SB-300’s capacities: 64,000 Btu/hour at 35°F, 37,000 Btu/hour at 0°F, and 25,000 Btu/hour at -20°F. And the SB-200: 60,000 Btu/hour at 35°F, 32,000 Btu/hour at 0°F, and 21,000 Btu/hour at -20°F.

Standard features include the MP-VI Smart Reefer controller with Optiset temperature-management system and new enhancements such as a simple on/off switch and a user-friendly keypad. The Optiset feature lets operators easily manage the temperature requirements of specific cargoes, with up to 10 parameter sets that can be programmed by a TK dealer.

Also standard is the Data Acquisition System (DAS) that records a complete downloadable log of cargo temperatures and unit operating conditions. Both models feature new high-capacity condensers, and the SB-300 also gets a new high-capacity evaporator and high-output engine. Options include the FlexAir bulkhead and unique duct system.
