Dina doubles production of class-7 truck for Western Star
KELOWNA, B.C. (Feb. 16, 2000) — Mexican truckmaker Consorcio G. Grupo Dina S.A. de C.V. said it has more than doubled production of a class-7 truck introduced last fall as a joint venture with Western Star Trucks.
Dina had been building eight of the vehicles each day s before the joint manufacturing deal with Western Star. At full production, expected by late April, the build rate will be 18 units per day — including 10 units a day for Western Star, according to a Starks News Service report.
The 10-year contract calls for 9000 trucks during the first three years. Western Star sells the trucks under its own nameplate in the U.S. and Australia. Dina-branded trucks are sold in Mexico.
