Dina launches $123 million suit against Western Star
MEXICO CITY (Oct. 2, 2001) — Consorcio G Grupo Dina S.A. is suing Western Star Trucks for $123 million US over an alleged broken supplier agreement.
The case was filed at the arbitrage court at the International Chamber of Commerce.
In 1999, Western Star contracted Grupo Dina, a Mexican manufacturer of commercial vehicles, to supply class-7 trucks for a 10-year period. The agreement was cancelled by Freightliner LLC when it bought Western Star last year. Freightliner produces its own medium-duty truck lines.
A decision is expected by the second quarter of 2002.
