TORONTO — The panelists are getting testy. Four episodes in and it’s clear that the editors involved in the todaystrucking.com “Dispatches” podcasts are proving something that their spouses have suspected all along:
These so-and-so’s like to argue.
And (again, echoing their spouses’ opinions) they’re not afraid to way too far out on limbs to prove their points, if necessary.
Whether they’re discussing the over-abundance of roadside moose in Newfoundland and truck regulators in Washington and Ottawa; or the under-abundance of female drivers in trucking this — the fourth episode of Dispatches — promises to stimulate, entertain and probably make you laugh.
Joining the usual motley crew of todaystrucking.com editor Marco Beghetto, Highwaystar editor Allan Janssen and Today’s Trucking editor Peter Carter is the outspoken rather outrageous editor of Canadian Technician Magazine, David Menzies. You’ve heard of Doctors without Borders? Menzies is president of Editors without Filters.
Topics range from why young people aren’t attracted to the skilled trades and what kind of whales the Quaker went hunting for to why so many young moose are attracted to truck bumpers on the Rock. Plus: the FMCSA’s HOS policy takes another huge shot. And thrown in for good luck: some economic sagacity from Menzie’s late Scottish Granddad.
Time was, Fleet Street was where all the finest journalists in Britain worked.
Think of this as the new and improved Fleet Street.
