DURON Meets CI-4 Requirements

Petro-Canada says its DURON heavy-duty engine oil has achieved the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) new CI-4 performance criteria to meet the more stringent heavy-duty diesel engine standards taking effect in October.

DURON is formulated from Petro-Canada’s patented HT Purity process, which is used to produce base oils that are 99.9% pure. These base oils have virtually all aromatics, sulphur, and nitrogen impurities removed, the company said. The result is better soot-dispersion and oxidative stability at higher operating temperatures, including those generated in 2002 engines with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems.
