Dynamex Canada president passes away

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Workers and managers at Dynamex Canada are mourning the loss of their president, James R. Aitken, who died this past weekend in Ottawa from complications following heart surgery. He was only 48 years old.

The Dallas-based same-day transportation and distribution company issued a statement today stating that thoughts and prayers are with the Aitken family and their friends.

Jim Aitken joined Dynamex Express, the predecessor company of Dynamex in 1988 and was promoted to President Dynamex Canada in March 2004.

"His leadership and hard work were instrumental in the company’s development and growth and the success the company has enjoyed," read a statement. "We will definitely miss Jim’s leadership and experience, but more importantly, the passion that Jim had for the business and the people of Dynamex."

Until a replacement is announced, James L. Welch, president and CEO, will assume the duties and responsibilities of this position.
