e-Manifests required at N.D. and Vermont border crossings
WASHINGTON — As of yesterday, July 12, 2007, truck carriers must submit electronic manifests before arriving at North Dakota and Vermont land border ports.
Following a period of enforcement discretion, where US Customs will had out notices to carriers who have not submitted e-manifests, full enforcement of the electronic filing requirement in these two regions will begin on September 12, 2007.
As of that date, CBP could deny carriers to proceed across the border without submitting an e-manifest.
Monetary penalties of up to $10,000 may also be issued.
