East MMF Aluminum Flatdeck
The new MMX aluminum platform trailer from East Manufacturing is a direct result of customer feedback that builds on the features of the company’s “Beast” model launched in 1984, adding just 20 pounds. It also anticipates the new North American Cargo Securement Standards likely to be in place by summer’s end.
A 48-foot MMX with cast drums, 24.5-inch steel disc wheels, and winch track on both sides has a base weight of 9185 pounds, leaving a payload of 50,000 pounds or so when you add a typical tractor. Add an axle to make a tridem with a GVW of 97,000 pounds.
The MMX has a concentrated load rating of 72,000 pounds in four feet, up from 50,000 on the Beast. An option is the CLP, or Concentrated Load Package, for hauling concentrated point loads like steel coils. It involves extra frame and floor crossmembers in eight-foot sections.
A new outside rail, patents pending, includes the SecureTight winch track and locking tie-down track (in three-inch increments) on both sides-certified to Canadian Test Method 905 and ready to meet or exceed the coming regs.
Single-drop and B-train versions are available.
