Rusty steel suspension hangers are fatiguing in more ways than one. They’re tough to repair and repaint and they can cause aluminum components to galvanize and corrode-a sight that will literally take the shine off your investment in aluminum components.
One option from East Manufacturing is not to spec steel hangers at all. The company’s new aluminum hanger is called Lite-Ride, available as a bolt-on version for aluminum frame trailers and as an integrated weld-on option for East frameless dump trailers. Compared with a steel assembly, the bolt-on hanger is 150 pounds lighter per tandem while the integrated weld-on option for frameless trailers saves more than 370 pounds.
