Eaton plans transmission facility in Mexico

DETROIT (Feb. 10, 2000) — Eaton Corp. announced plans to build a $100-million US, 350,000-square-foot plant in Mexico to manufacture transmissions for heavy trucks.

To be located in the Tres Naciones Industrial Park in San Luis Potosi mid-way between Mexico City and Monterrey, the facility will produce Eaton 13- and 18-speed transmissions. Groundbreaking for the plant, which will employ 400 to 500 persons, is expected by mid-April.

The new plant joins eight other Eaton manufacturing facilities already in Mexico, plus a regional sales and service facility in Monterrey.
