Evan Meyers recognized for service to Ontario trucking industry

TORONTO (Nov. 19, 1999) — The prestigious Trailmobile Service to Industry Award for Ontario for 1999 has been won by Evan Meyers, president of Meyers Transport Ltd., Peterborough, Ont. The award recognizes an individual who, by their commitment, vision, leadership, and unstinting service, has made an outstanding contribution to the development and success of the truck-transportation industry. The awardee is selected by a committee of his peers.

A longtime director of the OTA and chairman of its board of directors for 1992-94, Meyers has been involved in the trucking industry all his life. The family trucking company was started by his grandfather in 1927,and Evan became president in 1979, after “earning his spurs” by working as a manager with another trucking firm for several years. Prior to that, he was an analyst with Wood Gundy Ltd.

The award, which is a framed charcoal portrait of the recipient, was presented at the final luncheon of the OTA convention by Bert Clay of Trailmobile Canada.
