Ferro begins first day as FMCSA boss
WASHINGTON — The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration‘s fourth administrator begins her duties today after being sworn in on Friday.
Ferro succeeds John Hill, who had served since August 2006under the Bush administration.
Ferro most recently was head of the Maryland Motor Truck Association and before that she was the state’s Motor Vehicle Administrator.
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved of Ferro’s nomination last month after the former trucking lobbyist answered some tough questions on her views of and her relationship the trucking industry.
According to the local logistics magazine DC Velocity, Ferro’s nomination was held up by union-friendly interests in the Senate until the DOT agreed to rewrite the hours of service rule.
