FleetWorks.com partners continue to develop parts exchange
BOSTON and PALO ALTO, Calif. (April 24, 2000) — Meritor Automotive’s former partners in an online commercial truck parts exchange said last week they intend to continue with the project.
Accel Partners, a venture capital firm in California’s Silicon Valley, and Gen3 Partners, a technology firm based in Boston, said the project will proceed under the name FleetScape.com. Meritor, a leading supplier of commercial truck components, withdrew its investment in the venture, formerly called FleetWorks.com, citing concerns that its equity participation would compromise the neutrality of the exchange.
FleetScape.com will operate as an independent company located in Boston. Sue Kampe, who had previously been named as president and CEO of the new company, will remain with the venture, as will the entire FleetScape.com management team. Kampe was Meritor’s senior vice president and chief information officer.
