FMCSA representative to address OTA convention

TORONTO (Oct. 29, 2001) — A representative of the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will talk about heightened security at the Ontario Trucking Association’s annual convention in Toronto next month.

In response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the FMCSA is visiting trucking companies across Canada and the United States to offer suggestions on security issues, in particular, those security measures which are not required by U.S. Dept. of Transportation regulations.

The recommendations will cover such areas as personnel security, dangerous goods control while the goods are in the carrier’s possession, enroute security, and related technical innovations.

The presentations are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 2:30 p.m., and on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. The cost is $10.

The OTA convention will be held Nov. 14 to Nov. 16 at the Regal Constellation Hotel in Toronto.
