Freight Index Rises 36 Percent over 2010, TransCore.

PORTLAND, OR. — TransCore’s North America Freight Index for November showed a 36 percent climb over the same month last year, marking the third consecutive month with the highest same-month volume since 2005.

Spot market freight volume slipped 4.4 percent when compared with October — a normal seasonal trend, Transcore said.

TransCore’s Truckload Rate Index, which reflects line-haul rates excluding fuel surcharge, showed an increase year-over-year on the spot market in November for all equipment types.

Comparing November’s dry van and reefer rates showed slight increases when compared to October, but November’s flatbed rate dropped 4 percent.
