Gerth Transport takes parent’s name

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 11, 2001) — Celadon Group, based in Indianapolis, has changed the name of its Canadian trucking operation, Gerth Transport, to Celadon Canada Inc.

The name change is being followed up with the rebranding of Gerth Trucks and trailers to carry the Celadon Canada logo and colors.

Celadon Group acquired the Kitchener, Ont.-based company in 1998 as a key component in completing Celadon’s lane strength from Mexico to Canada, making it the largest transporter of truckload freight throughout that lane.

“The rebranding achieves our objective of presenting one face and one brand to our customers,” said Steve Russell, Celadon Chairman and CEO.
