GM revives Kodiak and TopKick names

DETROIT (Feb. 12, 2002) — General Motors will revive the Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick names for its new conventional-cab line of class 4-8 trucks that will debut in the 2003 model year.

Last year, the company announced that it will offer five models for class 4 through 8 gross vehicle weight ratings. They will replace GM’s conventional-cab C-Series line.

The Kodiak and TopKick model names were used on Chevrolet and GMC medium-duty trucks from the early 1980s through the mid-1990s.
