Golden Ears Bridge toll hike in effect
SURREY, B.C. – If you crossed the Golden Ears Bridge this past weekend in Lower Mainland, B.C., you may have noticed a bump in tolls.
That’s because effective July 15 TransLink increased the toll for trucks by 30 cents.
The charge for commercial vehicles with a transponder is now $8.70 (from $8.40); while pay-as-you-go vehicles will be subject to a toll of $9.85
The hike comes just a few weeks after the province raised the carbon tax on diesel by 1.3 cents a liter.
The increase could push trucks onto the Port Mann Bridge. It’s slightly more expensive, but less congested.
