Good going for column, Brian
KINGSTON, Ont. — Today’s Trucking’s safety columnist Brian Botham has won a prestigious award and he has been recognized as one of the best driver-safety experts in the country.
The award is the Transportation Health and Safety Association Council (THSAO) Driver Safety Professional of the Year, and Botham was presented with the prize at a Saturday night gala that wrapped up the THSAO’s Council of Driver Trainers three-day conference.
This award is given to safety professionals by their peers to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the Chapter, the Transportation Industry as a whole and/or their community in the promotion of transportation safety.
Botham, 41, began his trucking career 25 years ago as a flatbed driver. After a debilitating injury, he became a driver trainer and specialized in safety and compliance.
Two years ago, he started CMV Safety Consulting Inc., and now works with more than 300 customers, ranging from small private carriers to larger construction companies, in Ontario and Quebec.
A popular public speaker, he also writes regular safety columns for Today’s Trucking and highwaySTAR magazines.
The announcement was made by THSAO members Jones DesLauriers Insurance Management Inc. and HOS Auditing Inc.
"We are very proud of Brian’s accomplishments and this recognition by his peers only proves his commitment to safety and the industry," says Steve Mulligan, VP of HOS Auditing.
Finally, the staff here at Today’s Trucking and todaystrucking.com is proud to have Brian as part of the team and we’re pleased to give him a regular platform so he can make timely and helpful contributions to this increasingly complex industry.
