Great Dane breaks ground on new reefer plant
STATESBORO, GA – – Great Dane Trailers officially broke ground on the site of its new refrigerated trailer manufacturing plant today.
More than 200 people – including local businesspeople, political leaders, and company executives – attended the ceremony at the 118-acre site near the spot where Great Dane was founded in 1900.
Bill Crown, president and CEO of CC Industries, and the CEO of Great Dane Limited Partnership said the 450,000-square-foot plant, will have the capacity to produce more than 5,000 trailers a year and will employ more than 400 people.
The company says the new reefer plant will feature the latest technology, making it the most modern, efficient plant in the world. Construction is expected to get underway later this year to bring the plant into production in 2012.
Great Dane Trailers has division offices in Savannah, Ga., and Chicago, Ill., and manufacturing plants throughout the United States.
