Gripping data

Computing has become an important part of managing or handling inventory. You need as much capability on the warehouse floor as anywhere in
your company.

In that vein, Symbol Technologies released its MC9000-G computer, putting a robust new tool in the hands of any worker who needs advanced data capture, mobile computing, and wireless networking for managing the supply chain. The MC9000-G comes with two versions of the Windows CE operating system: CE .NET and Windows Mobile 2003, which simultaneously means more access to third-party applications and easy-to-create custom applications. It has a big, bright display (colour or monochrome) and comes packed with the latest mobile technology, including wireless networking built into the motherboard.

You also have the choice of using an integrated high-performance laser bar code scan engine or switching to a feature-rich imager. With the scanner, a variable-range scan engine lets you scan one-dimensional (1D) bar codes from as close as four inches or as far as 40 feet away with equal accuracy. The new imager reads 1D and two-dimensional (2D) bar code and composite code symbologies. For details: www.symbol.com or 1-866/416-8545.
