Halifax Harbour tolls going up
DARTMOUTH, N.S. – While tolls on Halifax Harbour Bridges‘ haven’t gone up in a few years, truckers and travelers say that a recent hike is significant.
Starting April 1, commercial vehicles will see toll increases of 34 cents per axle if paying by cash and 17 cents, with a Macpass.
Another 17-cent hike for Macpass will take effect April 1 2012.
Currently, trucks pay $1 per axle in cash or 87 cents per axle with Macpass.
Halifax Harbour Bridges applied for the toll hikes in 2010 to cover operating cost increases and ongoing reapirs, including a multi-year deck replacement on the Macdonald Bridge.
