Hendrickson aero bright bumper wins SPE award
ITASCA, Ill — The Hendrickson Aero Bright bumper earned the People’s Choice Award and an Automotive Award during the annual Thermoforming Conference of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).
The bumper — a Freightliner Columbia model — went on to earn one of five “blue ribbon” finalist positions for SPE’s Automotive Division parts competition in the body exterior category.
“These achievements are not only the result of significant teamwork with all of the supply partners involved in the creation of Hendrickson Aero Bright products but also represent a validation of Hendrickson’s credibility as a non-metal component developer,” says Jeff Zawacki, business unit manager, Aero Bright and Trim Business Unit.
Delivering the luster of chrome with lightweight characteristics of plastic, Hendrickson Aero Bright uses thermoplastic poly olefin (TPO) plastic and weatherable paint films with thick-sheet thermoforming technology, the company says.
Hendrickson Aero Bright provides a mirror finish in a dent- and corrosion-resistant material that matches OEM styling in bumpers, grills, headlight bezels and other components for the Class 5 through 8 commercial vehicle industry.
Hendrickson, a Boler company, is one of the largest global suppliers of truck and tractor suspensions, trailer suspensions, truck and trailer lift axles, bumpers and trim components and springs to the commercial transportation industry.
