Hendrickson gives axles a lift
One of the problems with lift axles is that you have to raise and lower them occasionally. If you don’t have controls inside the cab, the operation is an inconvenience at best. The auxiliary axle division of Hendrickson International, a leading manufacturer of lift axles, offers a retrofit kit that can automatically control the function of the lift mechanism when the trailer is moving in reverse (an important feature if your lift axle is self-steering) and drop the axle again once the trailer is travelling forward.
The unit is compatible with any lift mechanism that has an electro-pneumatic control. A wheel-end sensor reads the ABS tone ring and triggers the lift mechanism after three feet of rearward travel. Eighty feet of forward travel automatically keys the lowering of the axle.
The installation kit (EKAD0001) includes a direction sensor, electronic control unit, and wiring harness. A back-up alarm is optional.
