Highway Hero deadline approaching fast

AKRON, Ohio, (Sept. 24, 2003) — Do you know someone who should be the Highway Hero for 2003? Goodyear wants to know — quickly.

The nominations deadline for Goodyear’s 21st annual North America Highway Hero program is just over a month away, on Nov. 30, 2003. Goodyear is asking truckers in the U.S. and Canada to nominate someone they may think deserves consideration for the award because of an act of bravery while on the job.

Goodyear is looking for drivers that fit the following bill: Must be a full-time truck driver and resident of the U.S. or Canada; incident recognized must have occurred in the U.S. or Canada, and the driver must have been on the job or on the way to or from work in the truck at the time of the incident; the truck at the time of the incident must have 14 wheels or more; and the incident must have taken place between Dec. 1, 2002, and Nov. 15, 2003, to qualify.

Nomination forms and program details may be obtained by calling the Goodyear Highway Hero Hotline at 330-796-8183. The nomination form also is available on the program’s web site at www.highwayhero.net.
